WHAT WE BELIEVE

About the bible

We believe that the Bible, sixty-six Old and New testament books, is the only inspired Word of God, and is the final authority for faith and life. In the original writings (Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic) the Bible is inerrant, infallible, and God-breathed. Because of God’s sovereign care over His Word, we have reliable translations available today. We recognize the necessity of the Holy Spirit’s illumination in order for us to correctly understand its meaning.

2 Peter 1:20-21 | 2 Timothy 3:15-17 | Isaiah 40:8 | 1 Peter 1:24-25

About God

We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three persons are co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, and have the same infinite perfection in their attributes.

Deuteronomy 6:4 | Isaiah 44:6 | Matthew 28:19

About Jesus Christ

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man without ceasing to be God. We believe in the deity of Christ, His virgin birth and sinless life, vicarious and representative death, burial and resurrection, and ascension to the right hand of the Father. From this exalted position He serves as the Great High Priest, the Mediator between God and and humanity.

Philippians 2:6-11 | John 1:14 | Colossians 1:14-19 | 1 Timothy 2:5 |Hebrews 1:1-3

About the Holy Spirit

We believe that God, the Holy Spirit, is the person of the Trinity who restrains evil in the world, convicts people of sin, and regenerates believers. He indwells and seals unto the day of redemption all who are saved. He fills with power and gives wisdom to those who are yielded to Him.

John 16:8-11 |Ephesians 1:13-14 | Titus 3:5 | Romans 8:9| John 14:26

about humanity

We believe that the human race was created in the image and likeness of God, but that in Adam’s sin the entire human race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God. We believe man is totally depraved, utterly unable and unwilling, apart from God in Christ, to remedy his lost condition.

Genesis 5:1-2 | Genesis 3 | Romans 5:12-19 | Ephesians 2:1

about salvation

We believe in the immediate and eternal salvation of every person who truly believes in Jesus Christ, and by faith alone, relies on His finished work on the cross as the only righteous ground on which a Holy God can provide salvation for people. Salvation is by grace, through faith alone, based upon the shed blood of Jesus Christ.

Romans 3:22-26 | John 3:16-17 | Ephesians 2:8-9 | 2 Peter 3:9

About Eternal Security & Assurance

We believe that those who have accepted God’s gift of salvation are eternally saved, kept by God’s work and power, and are therefore secure in Christ forever. We believe that it is the privilege of believers to humbly rejoice in the assurance of their salvation through the testimony of God’s Word.

John 10:25-30 | John 17:11-12 | 1 Peter 1:5 | 1 John 5:11-13

About the church

We believe that the church is the Body and Bride of the Lord Jesus Christ and that all who have accepted him as their Saviour are members of it. Local churches are composed of believers who gather regularly for worship, Scriptural teaching, the breaking of bread, fellowship, and prayer. We believe God has committed the oversight of local churches to elders whom He qualifies and equips for this ministry. Members of the church are called to serve each other using God-given spiritual gifts and to spread the gospel to the community and world.
